Ballance Design: Building a Stronger B2B Communications Foundation
The Challenge
Ballance Design had an impressive portfolio of work and customer relationships, but its external communications did not fully reflect the quality, scale and credibility of the business.
As Ballance’s first formal communications engagement, the opportunity was broader than securing media coverage. The company needed clearer messaging, stronger sales and credibility materials, and a more polished digital presence that could support both immediate business development and longer-term brand building.
Marigold PR developed a communications program that evolved with Ballance’s priorities, focusing investment on the assets that could deliver the greatest value to the business.
The Strategy
The engagement began by establishing the fundamentals: refining the positioning between Ballance Design and Ballance Containers, identifying priority customer stories, developing key messaging and creating a strategic PR framework.
From there, Marigold translated that strategy into practical marketing and sales tools, including a credibility asset featuring case studies, email marketing content and supporting brand materials.
We also developed a media strategy with more than 50 targeted contacts, multiple pitch angles and an initial round of proactive outreach. As the project evolved, additional resources shifted toward strengthening Ballance’s social presence and creating assets the internal team could continue using after the engagement.
The Results
Rather than measuring success solely through short-term media coverage, the project delivered a communications infrastructure Ballance could own and continue using across marketing, sales and business development.
Project highlights included:
A new company messaging and positioning framework
A strategic PR plan and reporting framework
A credibility asset showcasing case studies, customer logos and proof points
A targeted media database of 50+ contacts
Multiple media pitches and an initial round of targeted outreach
5 evergreen branded social media templates
12 ready-to-publish social posts, including copy and graphics
Email marketing content and a framework for future campaigns
Advertorial research and recommendations
Creating Value Beyond PR
One of the most important outcomes was developing assets that could work well beyond a single communications campaign.
The messaging framework could now be integrated across Ballance’s website, proposals, capability presentations, sales collateral and customer conversations. The credibility asset could serve as a sales leave-behind, while its customer success stories could be expanded into individual website case studies designed to support both search visibility and lead generation.
The social media program also created a repeatable framework rather than simply delivering a batch of posts. Ballance received reusable branded templates, an established tone of voice and messaging pillars that could guide future content and executive thought leadership.
The Takeaway
Sometimes the most valuable first step in PR is building the foundation that makes everything else work harder.
Marigold helped Ballance Design clarify how it talks about its business, elevate how the brand presents itself and turn its existing expertise and customer portfolio into stronger communications and sales assets.
With that foundation in place, Ballance is better positioned to build visibility through earned media, thought leadership, customer success stories, social content and digital marketing — while presenting a more consistent and credible brand at every stage of the customer journey.
